The Piranha is a tier 1 animal.

Mechanics

There are no animals that evolve into piranhas, as they are a tier 1 animal.
Piranhas evolve into lampreys, jellyfish, frogs, squids, seagulls, rays, pelicans, electric eels, beavers, anglerfish, snakes, sea turtles, penguins, octopuses, snapping turtles, and manatees.
- 4,000 XP is required for a piranha to evolve into a lamprey, 7,000 for a jellyfish or frog, 10,000 for a squid, 18,000 for a seagull, 24,000 for a ray, pelican, or electric eel, 30,000 for a beaver, anglerfish, or a snake, 36,000 for a sea turtle, penguin, octopus, or snapping turtle, and 42,000 XP is required for a piranha to evolve into a manatee.
Whether or not piranhas drop meat or yield XP upon being eaten depends on their tier.
As a piranha, friendly fire is turned off for oarfish (only from tier 1 to tier 5), all tier 10 animals (only at tier 1), and whales (only from tier 1 to tier 6).
- Despite friendly fire being turned off for stonefish at tier 1, you can still be damaged and even killed by their barbs.

When you are about to evolve, you have the option to spawn another piranha that will move alongside you instead of evolving.
- One piranha per evolution tier, up to 10 piranhas.
- These piranhas cannot attack each other.

Instead of boosting, you move faster, similar to the shark's rage ability.
- Unlike the shark's rage ability, you can eat food while doing this and your turning speed is not affected.

Losing a piranha causes you to lose an evolution tier (e.g. if you were close to evolving into an electric eel and one of your piranhas died, you will only be able to evolve into a seagull).
